In just 16 days, the new Marvel series "Moon Knight" will be released exclusively for Disney+ customers.
With its streaming start on 30 March 2022, "Moon Knight" joins the franchise as 33 MCU titles. The series will contain 6 episodes in total. The six-part MCU series will be directed by Mohamed Diab as well as Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. Jeremy Slater serves as series creator. A second season is not planned at the moment, but cannot be ruled out. The new teaser can be found in the "CLIPS" section.
Who is playing?
With Oscar Isaac, a renowned actor has been cast for the fascinating character. He himself stated that it was "the biggest and most challenging workload [I've had] in my career".
Other roles include May Calamawy ("Ramy") and Ethan Hawke ("Training Day"). Hawke will act as the villain. Moon Knight" may also feature a reunion with Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, who has been spotted on location in Hungary.
Who is Moon Knight?
Moon Knight is a superhero or anti-hero from Marvel Comics. The former mercenary's real name is Marc Spector and he gains his powers through contact with an Egyptian god called Khonshu, who gives him the power of the moon.
This power comes at a high price, however, because he also suffers from a dissociative identity disorder that affects different personalities (one of them Steven Grant, whom we meet at the beginning of the series). He often can't remember what he has done or loses himself in uncontrolled excesses of violence.
Even if Moon Knight is not one of the strongest heroes, he is definitely dangerous. His unpredictability and his extensive knowledge of various fighting styles alone make him an opponent to be taken seriously.
What powers does Moon Knight possess?
In addition to his excellent skills in combat, Moon Knight also has magical powers. He is resistant to most telepathic attacks (such as by X-Men), can see the future in certain situations and has amazing powers, pain resistance and audacity in certain phases of the moon (usually full moon).
In the comics, Moon Knight's powers are directly linked to Knonshu, so his strength can depend on whether or not the god of the moon is friendly to him at the time. Marc's acceptance of his condition also has an influence on this.
As weapons, he usually uses a special moon sickle for close combat as well as additional throwing knives. Poison, bombs and other gadgets are also part of his arsenal, which is why he is often compared to Batman.
In addition, Moon Knight has a special suit that protects him and activates his powers. In the comics this is made of Kevlar, in the series the suit seems to be more magical in nature as it wraps around him like a second skin.
