On 6 May 2022, the new Doctor Strange - Mulitverse of Madness, will be released. The new Doctor Strange film will have a total length of around 2 hours. Screenplay will be by Michael Waldron and Jade Bartlett, producer is Kevin Feige (CEO of Marvel) and director of Doctor Strange will be Sam Raimi. Sam Raimi is already known to many Marvel fans from the Spider-Man series from 2002 - 2007 with Tobey Maguire.
As in the first Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch will again take on the role of Doctor Strange. In addition, Elizabeth Olsen will return as her character Scarlet Witch. As many have already realised from the trailer, Patrick Stewart is also likely to return as Professor X. With the introduction of Patrick Stewart as Professor X, it is highly likely that mutants will be introduced in the MCU.
Some facts about Doctor Strange
Dr. Strange was created by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee and made his first appearance in Strange Tales #110 in 1963.
For the character of Dr. Strange, Steve Ditko was inspired by the radio serial "Chandu The Magician".
Dr. Strange was already mentioned in The Return of the First Avenger by Jasper Sitwell. This makes him the first superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be mentioned by name before his first actual appearance.
He was also mentioned in Spider-Man 2 when Jamerson wants a new name for Dr. Otto Octavius, Hoffman offers the name Doctor Strange, though his boss likes the name but thinks it already exists.
Originally Doctor Strange was supposed to appear in the last episode of WandaVision, but in the end he did not make an appearance. Kevin Feige explained this decision by saying that the creative team believed that if Strange had appeared, it would have taken the focus away from Wanda and they didn't want the final episode to "become a commodity to go into the next movie" or for a man to show up trying to show Wanda how to harness her powers.
In the comics, Doctor Strange has a mistress, her name is Clea.
